In today’s environment of global supply chain failures, it’s more important than ever to support local producers and we couldn’t be happier with our partnership with Field Five Farm in Saanichton.
Field Five Farm is owned & operated by 6th generation Vancouver Island farmer, Kyle Michell, his wife Jennifer Michell, and local Master Maltster Mike Doehnel.
Clay and Mike Doehnel have been partnering on collaboration brews using Mike’s homemade, floor malted barley since the early days of Moon Under Water Brewery. Mike introduced Clay to Kyle many years ago, and they hit it off with their shared passion for beer and entrepreneurialism, and the challenges of doing so while raising a young family.
We’re now extremely proud to use 98% of our malt for our beer from Field Five Farm!
We have great and exciting projects in the works. From locally grown white wheat malt for our famous Hefeweizen, to Kentucky red corn and heirloom grains for specialty whisky and spirit projects in the Moon Distillery.

Brewed in the style of the great north German pilsners. Saaz hops shine through Bohemian malts to produce a crisp, dry-hopped and citrusy beer.

Moon Juice Raspberry Sour
5.5% ABV
A raspberry sour in a can. A bright + lively sour ale bursting with fresh juicy raspberry.
Balanced acidity with a jammy semi-sweet finish.
Not overly sour, this ale is accessible to beer geeks and cider drinkers alike.

Creepy Uncle Dunkel Dark Munich Lager
5.4% ABV
Strong, bold notes of chocolate, biscuit and caramel. This beer uses a Single Decoction brewing process that gives the beer an intense malt flavour without leaving too much residual sugar for a dry, refreshing finish.

This Is Hefeweizen
Our Uber-Traditional Bavarian Hefeweizen.
Notes of banana, bubblegum and clove.
The high protein content of the wheat combined with crystal malts in a long decoction mash give This Is Hefeweizen a more intense depth of flavour and heavier body than North American wheat beers.
It's refreshing, but also has a rich malt backbone to balance the warm banana and clove esters.

Take one part saison yeast and one part Brettanomyces. Mix in light Pilsner malt and finish with heaps of tropical fruit hops. Think Skittles in the attic.

Unfiltered craft lager brewed with rice malts and sweet orange peel for a dry, refreshing finish

This is the style that started it all... circa 1990 West Coast craft brewing at its finest.

Puft Daddy Marshmallow White Stout
We defied convention by brewing this stout without any roasted malts, resulting in a pale golden Ale with a thick white head. Locally grown barley & wheat, with heaps of oats, lactose sugar and vanilla beans, create the perfect base for the 400 lbs of marshmallows that went into the kettle to create this Marshmallow White Stout.
5.0% ABV. 25 IBUs.

Boys in the Yard Passion Fruit Milkshake IPA
Made with Lactose Sugar + Vanilla + Passion Fruit to create a beer that tastes like a Passion Fruit Milkshake. A perfectly balanced, juicy, tropical fruit bomb.

Soryo Kiwi Pale Ale
Soryo means "refreshing and cool".
Fresh lime and stone-fruit aromas from the wai-iti hops blend superbly with the sweetness and acidity of kiwi.
Ingredients: Water, Field 5 Farm barley and red wheat (located only 20 km away from the brewery - we support local farmers!), hops, kiwi juice, and yeast.

Mango, Sea Salt, and Cardamom Sour
A hint of green cardamom brightens the sweet aromas of mango while locally harvested sea salt from Vancouver Island Salt refreshes the palate. A lactose-free sour! 6% ABV.
